Update Oct 27 , 2020

Hello all,

I am happy to announce that we have managed to get our approval form the Regional Cadet Support Unit to resume in person training!  Unfortunately, we are still not able to access Whitehorse Elementary and have been told that we will not have a decision regarding user groups in the schools until late November.

We are looking at various options open to us to use the cadet camp.  Due to the distance out of town and all the restrictions imposed, we are looking at which training model would be best for us.  I hope to be able to advise everyone of a start date back for us early this week.

This Thursday October 29, 2020 we will have a virtual meeting to go over with everyone our new procedures for be able to train in the current environment.  The timings for these meetings will be as follows:
  •  18:00   Level 2  (started cadets last year)
  •  19:00   Level 3  (started cadets the year before last)
  •  20:00 Level 4

We will be sending out the contact information for you to be able to join the conference call/web meeting through the remind app.  If you or your parents are not currently signed up for remind app please email [email protected] and I will forward you the invite.
Please be sure to pull your uniforms out of storage, blow the dust of your boots, iron your shirts and get a haircut.

Start getting ready, please try on you uniform and make sure it still fits and if it does not please email [email protected].  Ensure you list:
  • Your name
  • Uniform pieces you need
  • The current size you have
  • What is wrong (the current item is too short to long etc.…)
Talk to you Thursday,

Alex Bourgeois

Sept 1, 2020

To Cadets, Parents and Guardians,

The safety and security of all who participate in the Cadet Program is always one of our top priorities. It is assumed that the COVID-19 pandemic could last 18 months or longer. This virus will likely return in multiple waves and continue to pose a threat to the Canadian Public. A return to normalcy is not foretasted any time soon, and we need to prepare for a new normal.

Therefore, that is why, the Commander of the National Cadet and Junior Canadian Rangers Support Group has made the decision to delay the start-up of limited in-person cadet activities until at least 1 October, 2020. This was not an easy decision, nor was it made in isolation. It ensures that we have proper measures in place for the safety and security of everyone who participates in our programs and will ensure that the Cadet and JCR programs do not become a vector to spread the COVID-19 virus.

In the month of September, you can expect that we will reach out to you with information about the fall. We are expecting virtual activities to resume in September until such time that limited in-person training can be authorized. For your information, we have enclosed some key highlights with information for 2020-2021 training year.

Although the fall of 2020 will not roll out the same way it has in years before, we remain committed to ensuring that the Cadet Program continues to provide unique experiences for youth within our community. Should you have any questions or concerns, you are encouraged to reach out to me.
Yours truly,

Alex Bourgeois
Commanding Officer
